Experts from Latin America, the Caribbean, Europe and Asia met here Tuesday to attend the 5th International Conference on Civil Protection and Disaster Administration.

Participants will discuss plans facing natural disaster threats, including earthquake, in the conference.

Some 80 percent of Venezuela's inhabitants live in high earthquake risk zones located in the central northern coast and Andean region.

Delegates from many international organizations, including the UN and the European Commission's Humanitarian Aid department (ECHO), also attended the conference.

In the 4th conference held in March 2007, participants discussed the issues of ecosystem change caused by human activities.
