Environment ministers from seven Central American countries and their Dominican counterpart held a special meeting on Thursday for a discussion on their joint strategies against climate change.
The meeting was a preparation for the summit on climate change and environment, scheduled for May 28 in Honduras.
The meeting, drawing ministers from the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Belize, Costa Rica, Honduras, Panama and Nicaraguan, discussed such key climate-related issues as water resources, sustainable energy, pollution forecast and control.
Once the strategies are set, they will be presented to the 2008and 2009 summits of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, which will be held in Poland and Denmark, respectively.
