Police wounded one suspect during a shootout at a Chinese supermarket in Argentina's capital Buenos Aires, police said Thursday. The shootout in the capital's Floresta district began when the two gunmen were spotted trying to rob the supermarket by a passing district police patrol Wednesday morning.
The injured suspect was dragged by his accomplice to their car outside the supermarket and fled, police said, adding that officers were still pursuing the suspects.
Staff and customers were unharmed during the gunfight, police said.
There are around 60,000 Chinese citizens in Argentina, mostly in Buenos Aires. A number of robberies took place at Chinese stores last year as the country's public security is deteriorating.
