Costa Rican Minister of the Presidency Rodrigo Arias Thursday demanded that the country's minister of public security hand over information he is thought to be holding on alleged links between politicians and Colombian guerrillas.

"I say (so) because we want him to hand over all the information he has to the legislative assembly and the country," Arias was quoted as saying in a story in Thursday's edition of "LaNacion" newspaper.

Fernando Berrocal on March 15 said files found in a computer confiscated during a March 1 raid contained information that suggested Costa Rican political circles have ties with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). It is also alleged that some 480,000 U.S. dollars belonging to the rebel group have been found in the Central American country. He did not mention the names of politicians.

But Tuesday, Berrocal appeared to backtrack on the claims, saying, "I never said there was an official list of politicians linked to drug trafficking and FARC."
