At least 122 people, 96 of whom are students, were poisoned by unidentified gases Friday in northwestern Colombia, local media reported.

The 122 people in La Cruzada suffered toxication Friday morning, making them vomit, faint and feel dizzy, among other symptoms.

La Cruzada's mayor Jesus Maria Bedoya said the situation is under control and the victims have been sent to local hospitals for medical treatment. Most are in a stable condition.

Local and department officials are investigating the cause of the mass poisoning.

Some 10 firemen were mobilized in a Colombian Air Force helicopter to detect the origin of the gas.
