A small plane went down at a public park near Los Angeles overnight, injuring the pilot and his only passenger, authorities said on Wednesday.
The twin-engine Piper Aztec crashed around about 8:50 p.m. local time Tuesday in the camping area of the Frank G. Bonelli Regional Park in San Dimas, more than 40 kilometers east of Los Angeles, according to a Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatcher.
The plane went down on the side of a hill in the park's camping area, injuring the aircraft's two occupants, said Los Angeles County Fire Inspector Darryl Jacobs.
An investigation was underway Wednesday to determine what caused the crash, authorities said.
It was the second crash of a small plane in the Los Angeles area in four days. A twin-engine Cessna 310 on Saturday lost power and plummeted into homes in Compton, about 30 kilometers south of downtown Los Angeles, injuring five people.
