Polls are closed in the Pennsylvania Democratic presidential primary Tuesday evening, but major U.S. media organizations said the race is "too close to call."
It used to be a formality that the media will estimate the results soon after the polls ended.
However, in the Pennsylvania primary, no media organizations said they will rush to declare a winner between Senator Hillary Clinton of New York and Senetor Barack Obama of Illinois.
CNN said the primary was "competitive" and Fox News said it is a tight race. Voting in Pennsylvania ended at 8 p.m. (0000 GMT Wednesday) as scheduled.
Earlier, a Philadelphia judge turned down a request from voting rights organizations that the closing time be extended for two more hours.
With 158 delegates at stake, a Pennsylvania newspaper said that the state is "poised to become decisive in the Democratic presidential nomination."
This is the first time since 1976 that Pennsylvania will play a major role in a presidential nomination.
