Police in Canada's biggest city Toronto dismantled 18 indoor pot planting operations, seizing 8,000 pot plants worth more than 8 million Canadian dollars (8 million U.S. dollars) during raids in the past two years, authorities said Wednesday.
Three people are facing charges of relevant crimes, York Regional Police said.
Police started a lengthy probe after receiving a tip in 2006 that alerted them to a number of pot houses operating in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). The tip also mentioned a business that was allegedly selling equipment used for the indoor production of marijuana.
Police targeted a business in Toronto and discovered the owners were "facilitating the operations of numerous marijuana cultivators plying their trade in the GTA," York Regional Police said in a statement.
Between May 2006 and April 2008, police busted 18 indoor marijuana operations which were linked with the business.
The charged will appear in court on May 1. Source:Xinhua
