A ceremony for the journey was staged at the Yacht Club in Guayaquil, the most populated city in Ecuador, 240 km southeast of the capital city Quito.

Vessel Commandant Freddy Garcia Calle said he is traveling with14 officers, 93 crew members and 32 cadets.

Three invited officials from the Army, Air Force and National Police and five Army officials from Argentina, Canada, Mexico and Venezuela will also join in the journey.
