The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) has tentatively agreed to hand over some nuclear files to the United States, The Washington Times said in a report Thursday.
It is reported that thousands of records from its Yongbyon nuclear reactor dating back to 1990 will be handed over to complement an expected declaration of its nuclear programs.
The United States is seeking access to those records, as well as samples from toxic waste and the destruction of the "cooling water" at the DPRK's main nuclear complex in response to criticism that it is lowering the bar in negotiations with Pyongyang, the report cited U.S. officials as saying.
The tentative agreement was reached last week in Pyongyang between Kim Kye-gwan, the DPRK's chief negotiator, and Sung Kim, director of the Korea Office at the State Department, the report said.
Under an agreement reached by the six-party talks in Beijing in February last year, the DPRK agreed to abandon all nuclear weapons and nuclear programs and declare all its nuclear programs and facilities by the end of last year in exchange for diplomatic and economic incentives.
