Twenty-eight workers were trapped in the debris following a powerful explosion in a mine in southern Brazil on Monday, Brazilian Military Police said.
The accident occurred when an oxygen cylinder burst in the mine in Lauro Muller, a city in Brazil's southern state of Santa Catarina, at about 4:00 a.m. (0700 GMT).
Twenty-six of the trapped miners have already been evacuated, of whom seven have been sent to hospital.
The leader of the rescue operation said it is necessary to have better ventilation at the site to ensure that the two remaining miners are found alive.
"The longer they stay in the place, breathing dust, the lesser the chances of finding them alive," he said. Source:Xinhua
