A U.S. State Department official said Tuesday that the nuclear documents "will provide an important first step in verifying" the declaration of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK).

"We believe these documents will provide an important first step in verifying the DPRK's declaration," said Sung Kim, director of the Korean Office at the State Department, at a press briefing.

Kim, who visited the DPRK and returned to the United States on Monday, said the DPRK nuclear documents number 18,822 pages in 314volumes.
