Despite the economic woe haunting the United States, families of President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney have barely lost their assets last year, according to the financial disclosure report released by the White House on Thursday.

The report showed that Bush and his wife Laura's assets worth between 7.2 million U.S. dollars and 20.2 million dollars, respectively, in 2007, compared to 7.5 million dollars to 20 million dollars they reported in 2006.

Bush's assets include 2.95 million dollar to 5.75 million dollar in U.S. treasuries, a ranch in Crawford, Texas, worth between 1 million dollars to 5 million dollars.

Cheney and his wife Lynne even saw their assets increasing sharply to a range of 21 million dollars to around 100 million dollars last year, it said, adding much of his fortune came from his income as the head of the oil services firm Halliburton Co.

Bush also reported that he had received gifts worth 15,370 dollars in 2007, including a 6,160-dollar bike and two bike power meters worth almost 3,000 dollars.

Other presents included night vision goggles from Cheney, worth579 dollars, a self-propelled trimmer/mower at 1,155 dollars and a custom Hawaiian shirt at 400 dollars, according to the report.

The gifts to the vice president was worth 5,364 dollars, including two days of accommodations and hunting from the Greenbriar Lodge of Carlisle, Arkansas, valued at 1,600 dollars.
