Polling stations for presidential elections in the Dominican Republic closed on Friday, the Electoral Central Junta (JCE) said.
The 13, 075 electoral collages of the 32 departments in the Dominican Republic closed at 6 p.m. local time (2200 GTM).
Some 5.764 million Dominicans voted to elect the country's president and vice president for a four-year term.
Dominica's incumbent President Leonel Fernandez, who is seekinga reelection victory, congratulated Dominicans for having voted in a massive and peaceful way.
