A group of people attacked customs and military officials in a northern Bolivian town on Tuesday, news reports reaching here from the Bolivian capital La Paz said.
The attack took place in Desaguadero after a ceremony held by the local military authorities, the interim chief of the National Customs of Bolivia (ANB) Cesar Lopez said.
The attackers threw stones and sticks at the vehicles of customs and military delegations attending the ceremony, Lopez said. "We have problems leaving Desaguadero."
Lopez said the aggressors were smugglers. They are against customs regulations, saying the regulations are harming their interests, Lopez said.
Desaguadero is located on the southern side of Lake Titicaca, in the province of La Paz.
