One person was sent to hospital after a chemical odor was smelt early Tuesday at an airport in Canada's capital Ottawa.

The smell was reported at 3:30 a.m. local time (0730 GMT) at the new wing of the Ottawa Airport, Canadian Television (CTV) said.

Two other people were being treated on site, and all three were airport staff.

The hazardous materials team has arrived at the airport to investigate. No flights have been delayed as a result of the odor, CTV reported.
