Six people were injured, two of them critically, when a balcony collapsed from an apartment building in Canada's capital Ottawa, medical officials said Sunday.
Paramedics, fire crews, and police were called to the three-story apartment complex in downtown Ottawa after a third-floor balcony tore off the side of the building late Saturday night.
They found four people with serious injuries and two with critical injuries, Darrell Drew, a team leader with the Ottawa Paramedic Service told Canadian Television on Sunday.
The balcony had sheared off completely from the apartment and fell to the ground, destroying parts of the two lower balconies.
Two of the injured are in critical condition in hospital, while the other four in serious condition with lacerations, abrasions and fractures, he said.
The accident is being investigated.
