The United States welcomed France's rejoining NATO's integrated military command, U.S. National Security Council spokesman Gordon Johndroe said on Tuesday.

France is a founding member of NATO. In 1966, France's then-president Charles de Gaulle pulled French troops out of NATO's integrated command structure as a gesture of independence from the United States.
