Visiting Spanish Foreign Minister Miguel Angel Moratinos said Wednesday that Spain is willing to mediate between Colombia and its neighboring Ecuador and Venezuela to resolve a diplomatic row.

Moratinos said Spain is ready to offer Colombia a helping hand to restore diplomatic ties with the two countries, which had fallen out with Colombia in March after Colombian government forces entered Ecuadorian territory during a cross-border attack on the rebel Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC).

The Spanish minister also called on the Colombian rebel group to disarm and release all the hostages it is holding.

Moratinos arrived in Colombia for a one-day visit Wednesday after a brief meeting with Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.
