Haitian Vice President of the Senate Andris Riche Tuesday urged fellow deputies to take a decision on the designation of Michele Pierre-Louis as prime minister, who was nominated by President Rene Preval on June 23.
According to information reaching here from the capital Port auPrince, Riche said Haiti "needs a government" to steer the country through its current difficult situation.
Riche expressed regret that a week after being designated as prime minister, Pierre-Louis had still not been invited to present documents to the legislative power.
Riche suggested the creation of a commission to invite Pierre-Louis to present her documents and to begin the analysis and evaluation process.
Pierre-Louis said earlier that she is available and was awaiting the vote on her designation, which must be taken by parliament.
