U.S. President George W. Bush said on Wednesday that the U.S.-led forces in Afghanistan had "a tough month" but insisted that the U.S. Afghan strategy is working.
"It has been a tough month in Afghanistan, but it's also been a tough month for the Taliban," Bush said of the coalition's casualties in Afghanistan in June.
"I'm confident that the strategy is going to work," he said.
It was reported that last June was the deadliest month for U.S. troops in Afghanistan since the war began in 2002.
In the past month, Taliban militants killed more U.S. and NATO troops in Afghanistan than in Iraq for the second straight month. Source:Xinhua
