All the three passengers were killed as a light aircraft of the Armed Forces of Chile they were traveling in crashed Wednesday afternoon in southern Chile, local authorities confirmed.

The jet, which was on a training flight, ran into electricity wires near La Lobera, some 60 km south of Puerto Mont and caught fire, witnesses said.

The victims belonging to the Group 5 of the Armed Forces had engaged in rescue work in the city of Chaiten after the eruption of the Chaiten volcano.

This was the second such crash in the area as the previous one killed the pilot while nine other passengers survived.
