U.S. President George W. Bush will meet Pakistani Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani on July 28 for talks on issues of mutual concern, the White House announced Thursday.

It will be the first visit by a Pakistani prime minister to the United States since the formation of the new Pakistani government in March.

In addition to the war on terrorism, the two leaders will also discuss bilateral cooperation on economic development and regional issues, White House spokeswoman Dana Perino told reporters.

During his visit, Gilani is also expected to meet with members of the U.S. Congress, the business sector, the news media as well as the Pakistani-American community.

Pakistan is a close ally of the United States in the war on terror.
