All six crew members were killed when a B-52 bomber they were aboard crashed on Monday off Guam, said the U.S. Air Force on Wednesday.

The military said they had shifted the focus of search efforts from rescue to recover of crew bodies.

One of the two bodies that have been found so far was identified as Maj. Christopher Cooper, a pilot, it added.

The Louisiana-based unarmed B-52 bomber crashed about 48 kilometers northwest of Apra Harbor off Guam when it was conducting a flyover in the Liberation Day parade to commemorate the anniversary of the U.S. military's arrival on the island after it took it over from Japan in 1944.

Following the incident, six vessels, three helicopters, two F-15 fighter jets and a B-52 bomber have been sent to search for missing crew members in the Pacific Ocean area, as a joint operation by the Air Force, Navy, Coast Guard and local police.

The cause for the crash is still under investigation.
