Mexican Juvenile leaders and officials on Wednesday agreed to promote sex education to help reduce the infection of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) among children.
Coordinator of the International Aids Society (IAS)' Youth Program Ricardo Baruch said that sex education is cheap and of massive scope and therefore cost efficient.
"Sex education is a right we all have and should be promoted by all means available, though some governments have not done it until now," he said in youth activities presentation for the 17th International Conference on Aids scheduled for August 3-8 in Mexico City.
Priscila Vera, director of the Mexican Youth Institute (IMJ) agreed to promote the use of condoms among youth, saying that they will be handed out for free in the coming months.
Director of the National Center for the Control of HIV/AIDS (Censida) in Mexico Jorge Saavedra said it is a great challenge to improve sex education among teenagers, specially among children in primary schools.
Sex education in primary school must promote the proper use of condom and the safe sexual relations among young people, Saavedra said.
