House windows were blown up and nearby residents were evacuated after a powerful explosion happened at a propane facility early Sunday morning in Canada's largest city Toronto, reports reaching here said.
The blast happened at a facility located in the northern end of the city. There were workers inside the facility at the time of the explosion, but it is unclear how many or what happened to them, police said.
The blast blew windows out of houses in the neighborhood. Residents living in a 1.6-kilometer radius around the plant had been evacuated. Police do not know if there were any casualties among the residents.
Part of a nearby highway has also been closed.
A worker said the propane supply was shut down, but warned there could be more explosions until the remaining in the tanks is all burned up.
