An American soldier and an Iraqi interpreter were killed in a roadside bomb explosion in northwest Baghdad, the U.S. military said on Thursday.
The victims were killed on Wednesday when an improvised-explosive device struck their vehicle at about 10:10 a.m. (07:10 GMT), a military statement said.
The name of the deceased soldier is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, the statement said.
More than 4,140 U.S. soldiers have been killed in Iraq since the U.S.-led invasion in March 2003, according to media count based on Pentagon figures.
