The U.S. Democratic National Convention in 2008 will be held from Monday to Thursday in Denver, Colorado, where Illinois Senator Barack Obama and Delaware Senator Joe Biden will accept nominations for the presidential candidate and vice presidential candidate, respectively.
The following is the agenda of the four-day Convention:
Aug. 25
The theme for the day is "One Nation." Obama's wife, Michelle, will be the headline prime-time speaker. A tribute will be presented to Massachusetts Senator Ted Kennedy who is suffering from cancer.
Other key speakers include Nancy Pelosi, House Speaker, and Jimmy Carter, a former president.
Aug. 26
The theme for the day is "Renewing American's promise." New York Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton will be the headline prime-time speaker, and former Virginia governor Mark Warner will deliver the keynote address, a role Obama played at the 2004 Democratic National Convention.
Aug. 27
The theme for the day is "Securing America's Future" and it will feature a speech by the vice presidential candidate, Joe Biden.
Other key speakers include former President Bill Clinton and former presidential candidate Bill Richardson.
The roll call is set to be held the day when delegates submit their votes for the presidential candidate. Although Obama has won the primary, his name will appear in ballots along with Hillary Rodham Clinton's as a way to honor her outstanding performance in the primary as the first competitive female presidential candidate in the country.
Aug. 28
The theme for the day is "Change You Can Believe In." Obama will accept the nomination in a speech on the 45th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr.'s famous speech "I Have A Dream."
Former Vice President Al Gore will also address the Convention.
