The Republican National Convention (RNC), cut back Monday because of Hurricane Gustav's landfall on U.S. Gulf Coast, will resume a full schedule Tuesday, sources said.
President George W. Bush, who was scheduled to speak Monday, will deliver his speech via satellite at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday (0140 GMT Wednesday), Republican sources told reporters.
Republicans are holding their convention in St. Paul, Minnesota, on Sept. 1-4. Tuesday's schedule will focus on a detailed introduction of John McCain, who will formally be nominated as the party's presidential candidate.
Former Tennessee Senator Fred Thompson, who ran in the early Republican presidential primaries this year, and Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman, the Democrats' 2000 vice presidential nominee, will deliver primetime speeches after Bush.
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani will have a speaking role at the RNC. GOP officials said the convention will still have an emphasis on helping those affected by Gustav's passage through the Gulf states.
