U.S. Senator McCain from Arizona was formally nominated as Republican presidential nominee Wednesday night at the Republican National Convention in St. Paul, Minn.

McCain won the nomination by a roll call of delegations from states, the District of Columbia and territories.

Earlier, McCain's running mate Alasksa Governor Sarah Palin accepted vice presidential nomination and delivered a speech at the convention.

McCain will formally accept the nomination on the last night of the convention on Thursday.
