A thief entered a suburb home in Los Angeles and took away at least a dozen paintings worth several million U.S. dollars, including works by world-famous painters Marc Chagall and Diego Rivera, police said Tuesday.
Los Angeles police announced an offer of 200,000-dollar reward for information leading to the return of these paintings, which were believed stolen on the morning of Aug. 23.
The thief took the paintings from the walls of two rooms while the couple who own the home were in another room, said Los Angeles Police Detective Donald Hrycyk.
The owners, whose names were not released, are wealthy real estate investors who had been collecting for more than 50 years, Hrycyk said.
Police believe that the stolen paintings are worth hundreds of thousands of dollars each and will be difficult for the thief to sell.
