The United States confirmed on Monday that Cuba has rejected its five million dollars in relief assistance for rebuilding for recovery after Hurricanes Ike and Gustav.
The United States is "committed to trying to assist the Cuban people with a humanitarian crisis," State Department spokesman Sean McCormack made the confirmation while noting that Washington is "committed to trying to assist the Cuban people with a humanitarian crisis."
Cuba's Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Thursday that it has for a second time rejected the U.S. offer of post hurricane aid with strings attached, stressing that the country will overcome the situation.
The United States and Cuba has been hostile to each other, with the former having had an economic ban on the latter for 50 years since the Cuban Revolution in 1959.
