The head of the Organization of American States (OAS) on Friday urged all parties in the conflict-troubled Bolivia to be calm when talks are underway to seek a way out of the country's political crisis.
"What we have to do now is to wait for the results of the dialogue," OAS Secretary General Jose Miguel Insulza was quoted by reports reaching here as telling a group of observers at the national dialogue which began on Thursday in the central city of Cochabamba.
He said that the preliminary results of the talks were good.
Tensions remained high in the natural gas-rich Andean nation after violence erupted last week that has killed at least 18 people.
Opponents of Morales are demanding the release of the governor of northern Pando province, who was arrested under martial law on charges of ordering "a massacre" of peasants last week.
Thousands of peasants loyal to Morales continued to block roads around the opposition stronghold of Santa Cruz.
During the talks, the provincial governors will press their demands for more regional autonomy, a larger share of revenues from natural gas and a revision of a drafted constitution to gain more say on education and transport policies.
