Rescue teams from the Chilean Air Force (FACH) said Monday they had found three bodies of crew members of a light aircraft which lost contact with ground from last Sunday afternoon.

The victims were Juan Carametro Ferreto, who piloted the aircraft, Sergio Diaz Aguirre, president of the aerial club of LosAndes, and his wife Graciela Weber.

FACH confirmed their deaths when they arrived at the scene of the Cessna 172 aircraft, on the south side of the EL Roble Alto hill, 25 km north of Curacavi.

The aircraft took off last Sunday from the airport of Santo Domingo and headed for San Rafael de Los Andes, in the central zone of Chile.

The plane lost contact with ground near the locality of Curacavi, 46 km west of the capital city Santiago.

Investigation into the cause of the tragedy is underway.
