Canada called for a peaceful resolution to the situation in Thailand for a second time on Saturday.

"Canada remains concerned over the ongoing political unrest in Thailand. Canada continues to call for a peaceful resolution to the situation in line with democratic principles and the rule of law," Foreign Minister Lawrence Cannon said in a statement.

The statement noted that there are currently 200 Canadian tourists in the country, who remain safe. Embassy officials have been taking care of the tourists and exploring options for their return as soon as feasible.

It advised Canadian tourists to stay away from locations where protests have been held or are currently ongoing.
