U.S. current Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said that Hillary Rodham Clinton is "going to be terrific" after taking office as the next top diplomat, according to a TV interview available on Sunday.
"She's terrific," Rice told ABC television. "I have known her for a long time, ever since she brought her freshman daughter (Chelsea) to Stanford (University) when I was provost at Stanford."
"I think she's going to be terrific," Rice said of the former first lady.
Clinton, who was defeated by President-elect Barack Obama in the Democratic presidential primaries, was nominated as the next secretary of state last week.
Rice said that her presumptive successor is intelligent, loves the United States and has faith in the country's values, which was Obama's terrific choice.
"She also has what's most important to be secretary of state, and that is that you love this country and you represent it from the basic of faith in its values, and I know that she will do that," said the outgoing secretary.
Clinton is leaving her current job as a New York Senator and joining the State of Department on Jan. 20 as Obama is sworn in to the White House. Source:Xinhua
