The U.S. Stated Department said on Wednesday that the suspicious envelope with white powder received by the U.S. embassy in Madrid, Spain on Wednesday was "harmless."
"Apparently the embassy received an envelope with white powder. I believe the contents were found to be harmless," State Department deputy spokesman Robert Wood told local mass media, noting the embassy was not evacuated.
Reports from Madrid quoted local police as saying that the suspicious package "seems to be a bag of flour."
Precautions measures, the deployment of ambulances outside the U.S. embassy and the close-off of the road near-by, were taken after the U.S. embassy in Madrid called the police.
