One Canadian soldier was killed and three others were wounded after an improvised explosive device went off Friday in southern Afghanistan, military officials said.
The incident happened in the Zhari District of Kandahar Province, about 24 kilometers west of Kandahar City, Canadian media reported, citing Brig.-Gen. Denis Thompson, the head of Canadian and NATO forces in Kandahar.
The soldiers were on patrol when the explosion occurred, he said.
In December alone, seven Canadian soldiers have been killed by roadside bomb attacks in Afghanistan.
This latest fatality has brought the death toll of Canadians in Afghanistan to 104 since 2001. Source:Xinhua
