Hamas movement has sent a delegation to Cairo for talks with senior Egyptian security officials to discuss a ceasefire between Gaza militant groups and Israel, an Arab satellite TV said on Monday.
The Qatari Satellite Channel of al-Jazeera quoted a senior Hamas source as saying that Hamas had sent a delegation to Cairo "to discuss the Israeli war on Gaza Strip."
Hamas decision to send a delegation to talk with the Egyptians came after Egypt contacted Hamas leadership and asked to send a delegation to discuss the current situation in Gaza Strip, the Hamas source told al-Jazeera.
The source didn't say what are the issues that would be discussed in the talks, and didn't say if the delegation would include Hamas leaders from Gaza, or only Hamas leaders from Damascus.
It is so difficult to get contact with any Hamas official or spokesman in Gaza, where all of them have been hiding since the beginning of the Israeli military air and ground offensive on Gaza Strip.
However, Hamas leadership in Damascus had earlier announced that it is ready to reach a ceasefire agreement with Israel "only in case Israel stops its attacks on Gaza Strip, end the blockade and reopen Gaza Strip crossings."
