A small single-engine airplane carrying four people crashed in Canada's Quebec province Tuesday, reports reaching here said. Rescuers have not been able to reach the site yet.

The plane was heading toward Saint John in New Brunswick province when it was reported missing around 5:30 a.m. local time (1330 GMT), shortly after leaving Quebec airport.

Rescuers have spoken with one person on the plane through radio and the location of the aircraft has been fixed at about 65 km southeast of Quebec City.

But the condition of the three other people is not known.

Police and a coast guard helicopter are in the area and four military aircraft are heading to the isolated spot.
