U.S. President George W. Bush is heading back to his hometown in Texas after his successor Barack Obama takes office on Jan. 20, the White House said on Wednesday.
Bush and his wife, Laura, will leave Washington D.C. from Andrew Air Force Base for his hometown of Midland, Texas, where they will be received by a welcome event in the town square of Centennial Plaza, said spokeswoman Dana Perino at the daily briefing.
The town was also the place where Bush departed to the capital for his first presidency in January, 2001.
It was the first time for the White House to clarify Bush's destination after leaving his post as a president.
Perino also said that the outgoing president and his wife will fly to Waco on his way to the Crawford ranch in Texas, or the "Western White House," and spend his first day as a private citizen once again there.
First Lady Laura Bush also released to reporters details for their post-White House agenda, saying that they would fly back to the ranch with "a number of friends," before moving into their house in Dallas.
"So that will be fun," she said of stay in Crawford. Source:Xinhua
