An earthquake estimated at about magnitude 5.0 hit Southern California Thursday evening, according to the U.S. Geological Survey and the Southern California Earthquake Center.

The quake occurred about 7:50 p.m. local time (0350 GMT Friday)and was centered in San Bernardino, nearly 100 kilometers east of Los Angeles. Witnesses from across the region reported they felt the temblor.

There were no immediate reports of damage.
