Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) guerillas Sunday detonated explosive on the Pan American highway which connects Colombia with Ecuador, forcing the closure of the part of the highway.

The explosive was placed in two gas tanks and detonated early Sunday morning near Toribio, southwest of Colombia, local media reported.

The authorities said that the reconstruction of the damaged road will take some 15 days.

A policeman died and two others injured on Saturday in an FARC attack against the police near Toribio.
