Five children aged 7 to 16 were found dead late Saturday afternoon in the U.S. state of Washington, apparently the victims of violence, local media reported.

The children, found dead at a home in the state's Graham area, may have been killed by their father who was discovered dead earlier Saturday afternoon in a neighboring county, The Seattle Times said in a report on its website.

The man, 35, was believed to take his own life, the newspaper said, citing Pierce County Sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer.

Troyer said four of the children were girls. One, the 7-year-old, was a boy.

Investigators are just beginning to unravel the crime, and information available now is very preliminary, he added.

The killings occurred at a mobile-home park where he and the victims live, Dale Lund, a neighbor, was quoted as saying.
