The Revolutionary Democratic Party (PRD), one of Mexico's main parties, is taking a lead in voting intentions in the capital of Mexico City for the upcoming national parliamentary elections, local newspaper reported Tuesday.
Forty-two percent of those polled said they support the PRD in the elections which will elect 300 deputies in 300 electoral districts on July 5, newspaper El Universal reported.
The elections will bring in a fresh set of legislators for the parliament of Mexico City.
Compared with the PRD, the National Action Party, which has the largest number of seats nationally, enjoyed only 26 percent of voting intentions in the capital, down three points from February. The Institutional Revolution Party, which is the nation's third largest, has 18 percent of voting intentions, down two points from February.
The survey also showed that 52 percent of Mexico City's residents regarded the fear for crime as the city's biggest problem, followed by unemployment which was marked by 14 percent.
