At least five people died and 10 went missing on Sunday in northern Mexico due to heavy rains, authorities said on Monday.
Homero Navarro, director of State Civil Protection Unit, said that two children and three adults were killed when their vehicle plunged into a rain-swollen river on Sunday night in the Cuauhtemoc municipality of Chihuahua State. Ten others are still missing.
Navarro said that the downpour caused floods in at least 18 districts of the Cuauhtemoc municipality, 1,537 km northwest to Mexico City.
The National Commission of Water (Conagua) said that the states in the north of the country will have moderate to heavy rains on Monday.
