Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva will attend the African Union summit next week during his visit to Sirte, Libya, said the Brazilian presidential office Tuesday.
Lula will leave for Sirte, the site of the summit and the hometown of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi Muhammad, next Monday and will stay there till Thursday.
Lula will leave for Paris, capital of France, on July 5 where he will be granted the prize of Felix Houphouet-Boigny by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization for his efforts in peace, democracy, social justice and equal rights.
Lula will then travel to L'Aquila, southern Italy, to participate in the Summit of the Group of Eight (G8) on July 8-10. The G8 groups Germany, Canada, the United States, France, Italy, Japan, Britain and Russia.
