Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa and Dominican Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit signed in Caracas on Wednesday an agreement on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The agreement was reached before a summit of the Bolivarian Alternative for the Americas, a regional economic bloc led by Venezuela, in the central Venezuelan city of Maracay.
At a signing ceremony of the agreement, Correa said he has a great honor of officially setting diplomatic ties with the Dominican Republic.
Meanwhile, Skerrit stressed the importance for his country of setting diplomatic ties with Ecuador, saying the Dominican Republic seeks to consolidate and strengthen bilateral relations.
