Honduras' Attorney General Luis Alberto Rubi said Tuesday family members of the deposed President Manuel Zelaya would not be barred from leaving the country.

The Honduran government has appointed a special official to be in charge of the exit proceedings of Zelaya's family, Rubi said at a press conference.

He noted if Zelaya's family members are willing to leave Honduras, the government will provide "necessary cooperation and convenience" to them "at any conditions."

The attorney general did not reveal whether Zelaya's family was prepared to leave the country.

According to local media reports, Zelaya's wife Xiomara Castro issued a statement Sunday morning that she was in the city of Catacamas in southeastern department of Olancho and have lost contact with her four children.

Early Sunday, Zelaya was snatched from his bed in the Presidential Palace by hooded and heavily armed troops and forced to board a plane to Costa Rica.

Later Sunday, Honduras' Congress appointed Congress leader Roberto Micheletti as the interim president in a session that began with the reading of a resignation letter, purportedly from Zelaya who has denied signing it.
