Peaceful marches in Honduras turned violent on Sunday as supporters of President Manuel Zelaya tried to trespass the airport fences to have access to the runways where the ousted leader intended to land.
Two persons were killed and several others injured when protestors clashed with the Armed Force at the airport.
Zelaya departed from Washington Sunday where a meeting of the Organization of the American States (OAS) on Saturday voted to expel Honduras from the organization.
OAS Secretary-General Jose Miguel Insulza, Argentine President Cristina Fernandez, Rafael Correa of Ecuador, Fernando Lugo of Paraguay have planned to travel with Zelaya to minitor his stay.
But the presidents later decided it was too dangerous to fly on the deposed leader's plane, which only carried UN General Assembly President Miguel D'Escoto Brockmann, two Venezuelan reporters and his close advisers and staff.
Zelaya said from the plane that he was firm in his decision of landing in Honduran soil.
Hours later, Honduran interim leader Roberto Micheletti said he wanted to have a "dialogue with the OAS."
Earlier Sunday, Micheletti denounced the Nicaraguan government for massing troops along the border.
Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega denied the accusation at a press conference in Managua, saying the allegations were "simply not true."
Hondurans have been relying on the international media for information, but the CNN Spanish channel in the country has been cut off.
On the OAS membership, Micheletti said Hondurans can live with it "if Cuba did, so we can."
At the OAS Saturday meeting, Zelaya received mixed advices from its participants. Venezuelan Councillor Nicolas Maduro urged him to return to Hunduras Sunday, but Costa Rica's representative Javier Sancho Bonilla said it would not be a good idea for the president to return yet because peace in the country could be disrupted.
Meanwhile, Honduras' Armed Force have cordoned off the airport, restricting the entrance of civilians. All flights were cancelled. Micheletti's government has made it clear that Zelaya will be arrested as soon as he sets foot on the Honduran soil.
